Debby Casher is a contemporary art jewelry designer based in San Diego. Inspired at an early age by her artistic mother, Debby was encouraged to explore a deeper interpretation of the world through various art mediums, including pottery and painting. Many of Debby’s inspirations were forged during her early childhood in Connecticut. The colors of the changing autumn leaves and the rocky New England beaches provide the early inspirations. Today, these are combined with the rugged Pacific Coast and the ethereal crystalline colors of the sea and what lies below.  Drawn to these vibrant colors, Debby seeks to convey an organic sense of the earth’s complex ecosystems.

Today much of her work is influenced by the coral reef systems and its delicate stony branching structures of limestone deposits.

It is her goal to combine and capture these environmental elements in an artful application that ultimately becomes wearable art.

Acrylic paint is the foundation for color in her designs, as well as tiny beads and organic and inorganic debris.  She also has a natural eye for selecting industrial materials for use in her design compositions. “I blend a multitude of disparate elements to evoke a feeling of contentment and inner peace similar to that experienced in nature.”

As her work has evolved, she has learned to use color, texture, and the visceral experience they evoke to create a visual analogue for the beauty and serenity of life.
